Police in New Mexico say three people were killed and 15 others injured during an altercation at a park in the desert city of Las Cruces. Police were asking Saturday for bystanders to share videos and other tips as they worked to identify shooters, who were attending an unsanctioned car show at the city’s Young Park around 10 p.m. on Friday. Victims ranged in age from 16 to 36.

About a dozen people were arrested by multiple agencies at New Mexico State University’s Las Cruces campus Thursday evening after a group of protesters, angry over the death toll and humanitarian crisis in Gaza, held a sit-in for two hours. Approximately 12 to 16 people sat close together in the middle of the floor, chanting and singing in the main hallway of the Hadley administration building, which houses the president’s office and other executive and administrative offices.

Gathered in the ballroom of Mesilla’s Palacio Bar, a faint hint of alcohol and the echo of a hockey game served as the backdrop to five attorneys pitching their best cases to be the area’s top prosecutor.
