STRONGVILLE, Ohio -- Premier Prep White Yetis (MN) and Northern CT Lights (CT) each entered Sunday’s 2A title game of the 2025 Chipotle-USA Hockey Girls Tier II 19U National Championships undefeated. The Yetis will go home as the only undefeated team in the tournament, as they prevailed 2-1 to win a national title. “The mindset [heading into the game] is that we need to continue what we have been doing,” said Premier Prep White head coach Bob Sherry.

“Hockey is for everyone” is a slogan the sport has long embraced. For the Los Angeles Lions Girls Tier I 14U team, it’s more than just words — it’s reality. The LA Lions hockey program, which began with a single 8U team in 2014, had pierced the top 15 of Tier I tournament-bound teams by 2020. The program’s 14U girls team qualified for the Chipotle-USA Hockey Girls National Championships in 2021, the first year the Lions were eligible.

When 11-year-old Savanna Springfield and her pony Candy Crush entered the ring for their second round at the ExEL Winter Wonderland Show in Germantown, Tennessee, last December, she had more on her mind than just the order of her fences. The show was the first major outing for “Candy” in almost a year, after a hock injury had left her sidelined for months, but—uncharacteristically—the pony had refused several jumps in their first round, and they were unable to finish the course.
