LEAVENWORTH — About 500 yards of grout, paste-like material to fill crevices, and 900 cubic yards of rock will be used to rehabilitate undermining and scouring at Tumwater Dam. Chelan County PUD commissioners received a detailed update on the $4.56 million rehabilitation project for the entire dam on Monday. The current phase started in September 2023, with the second phase expected to begin in fall 2024. However, the schedule is tentative and no decisions have been made.

MALAGA — The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife is taking Malaga-based development company, Ravenwing Ranch LLC, Columbia River LLC and subsequently, Chelan County, to court over a proposed resort land use decision. A preliminary hearing is slated in Chelan County Superior Court Jan. 30. WDFW is suing the businesses and county over a conditional use permit for gravel mining and citing an “inadequate environmental analysis” by the county.

A preliminary hearing is slated in Chelan County Superior Court Jan. 30. WDFW is suing the businesses and county over a conditional use permit for gravel mining and citing an "inadequate environmental analysis" by the county. According to court documents, the county granted the developer a conditional use permit to mine talus, loose rocks, within 400 acres of the proposed resort that was previously designated to remain open space in its native condition.

WENATCHEE — Chelan County PUD will no longer temporarily lower Columbia River water levels between Rocky Reach and Rock Island dams Wednesday. The PUD was slated to make water elevation changes to prepare the fish ladder at Rocky Reach Dam for routine maintenance 3-7 a.m."The work to prepare the fish ladder was done without the need to lower the water elevation between Rocky Reach and Rock Island hydroelectric projects," according to a press release.

WENATCHEE — LocalTel Communications, a local internet service provider, is expecting to restore lost emails from a widespread outage in December between Jan. 16 and Jan. 20. The outage began Dec. 19 and lasted several days, or longer, customers said. Customers lost access to previous emails and weren’t receiving new emails. The process of recovering roughly 10,000,000 emails was 25% complete as of Monday, according to a LocalTel update.
