Feb 19, 2025, 3:07 PM HEBER — In September 2024, Patrick Hayes was shot and killed in a road rage incident at the Ross Creek entrance of the Jordanelle State Park. Since then, the shooter has come forward, admitting he fired shots. But there have been no murder charges filed in the case, and it remains ongoing. On Wednesday, the Wasatch County Courthouse held a short hearing to set the groundwork for more to come in this already complex case.

OGDEN — At Ogden High School, taking care of each other and succeeding is being recognized. Shauna Haney, the principal of Ogden High, has been named a Principal of the Year. Back in August, KSL visited Ogden High as students were coming back to the classroom and highlighting a new facility that serves as a space where students can take care of their basic needs, so they can then succeed in other areas of their lives.

PARK CITY — Park City got a good dose of snow in just 24 hours. For some, it’s making their year. With a slower start to the season in terms of precipitation, skiers were ready to get to work Friday. The storm made for a slow commute winding into the mountain town as fresh powder kept falling. For many of those waking up to a blanket of white, it was a sight they welcomed.

SALT LAKE CITY — This year, the University of Utah could lose millions of dollars in federal funding for medical research. It comes as the Trump administration looks to roll out cuts in funding research universities. Erin Rothwell, Vice President for Research at the University of Utah, said funding goes toward their utilities, labs and equipment they need. If that were to be cut, it would take away from the resources needed for research.

STANSBURY PARK — At Stansbury Park Elementary, students are proving a small change makes a big change in the lives of those impacted by California wildfires. After learning elementary schools were affected by the California wildfires, Stansbury Park Elementary School students knew they wanted to help, so they came up with a change drive to make a positive difference.
