A proposed 24-unit apartment complex in St. Catharines didn’t get its approvals Monday night after city council heard a resident’s fence and yard were damaged by workers on the building site. In an unusual move, council put off passing any official plan and zoning amendments for 195 Vine St. in an attempt to get the developer to first settle its tab with the neighbours over the damage.

Niagara Falls City Coun. Mike Strange says he’s innocent after being arrested on the weekend and charged with assault. The 54-year-old former boxer was arrested by Niagara Regional Police early Saturday after an incident at his home in Niagara Falls. Court documents show Strange was charged with assault on a woman and released from the St. Catharines courthouse the same day with conditions.
