COLUMBIA COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – Three local students are advancing to the state level of the National Civics Bee Competition. The inaugural competition was held on April 24th at Grovetown High School. According to the Columbia County Chamber, twenty middle school students from across the region competed in the event, which tested their civics knowledge and essay writing skills.

The housing fair will take place at the Burke County Office Park Auditorium at 715 W 6th Street in Waynesboro. According to organizers, the Housing Resource Fair will bring together federal, state and local agencies in one place to offer services and resources to families recovering from Hurricane Helene.

UPDATE, 1:05 P.M. – According to Georgia State Patrol, Motor Carrier Compliance Division Officers were assisting Richmond and McDuffie County Sheriffs’ Offices with a warrant service on Thursday, April 24. Authorities state that they observed a blue Chevrolet Silverado with mud tires that matched a description given by the local agencies related to the warrant.
