SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – Our Friday is not looking too much better than our Thursday. The damp, raw, chill feeling in the air sticks around including pesky rain showers. Keep your umbrellas handy Friday, as scattered rain and higher terrain snow showers continue. It remains cool not only in Syracuse but across Central New York. Later Friday night into Saturday we are watching a new wave of low pressure moves into the Northeast. Does it impact us?

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – Most are dry tonight, but a few could see a little snow late tonight into the start of Monday. Who? Find out below…That’s right, we’re currently watching some colder air getting ready to make its way into the Northeast this upcoming week. Along with the cooldown continuing, our chances to see some snow will be increasing. The first round of snow is up and out of here. The rest of the day is mainly dry with some breaks of sun. Highs get into the 40s to near 50.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – Dry out there now, but some more damp weather is on the way. When does the rain return? Find out below…After a quiet and cold and frosty start to Wednesday, temperatures are expected to rebound out of the 20s and into the 40s to low 50s during the day. Any sun we see to start the day will give way to more clouds for the late morning and afternoon with some rain moving in mainly after 3 or 4 pm.

Details below…The 70s sure did feel great for the couple hours we had it Monday. Now, we’re cooling it back down to the 30s to low 40s to kick off April. We wish this was an April Fool’s Day joke, but the wind chills will make it feel like the 20s and low 30s much of the day.

Some thunderstorms capable of producing gusty winds move through midday, which will quickly cut the temperatures back down by the end of the day. We’re back to an early spring chilly feel to the air by Tuesday. Details below… Rain is fairly light and scattered Monday morning into the early afternoon. A cold front moves through in the mid-afternoon which could bring another round of rain and possible storms.

SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) — Over 60-70 mph wind gusts were recorded across Central New York Sunday evening when the first tornado warning of the year was issued. A tornado has not yet been confirmed by the National Weather Service, but there were over 90 wind damage reports across New York State from the severe thunderstorms.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WYSR-TV) — Syracuse has reclaimed its reputation for being the snowiest city in the United States. As of midnight on March 6, the official seasonal total snowfall recorded at the Syracuse Airport from the National Weather Service is 110.5″!Prior to this, Erie, Pennsylvania, had the bragging rights. Erie is sitting at 109.9″ of seasonal snowfall. Across New York State, Syracuse has been in the first place position for the NYS Golden Snowball Contest for most of the winter.

(WSYR-TV) SYACUSE, NY– At the beginning of the winter season, the Storm Team launched the inaugural “Golden Shovel Snowfall Contest” where NewsChannel 9 employees took their guess at how much snow Syracuse will see this winter season. Guesses ranged from nothing to 150″! It Turns out that a 150″ guess by Kendra Broddus may not be so far-fetched after all.
