The Tyler City Council approved more than $16 million in contracts to upgrade the city’s water system and improve police training facilities on Wednesday. The council awarded a $12.6 million construction contract to Taknek, LLC to modernize the Lake Tyler Raw Water Pump Station, which supplies drinking water to nearly half the city. The 36-month project will replace aging electrical systems, add a backup generator and install new controls to improve reliability during storms and outages.
