    LUFKIN, Texas (KETK) – TxDOT announced that FM 1336/Gobblers Knob in Lufkin has been approved for its speed limit to be reduced. According to a release from TxDOT, the speed limit for FM 1336/Gobblers Knob has been lowered from 55 miles per hour to 45 miles per hour from FM 324/Southwood Drive to 0.6 miles west of FM 324/Southwood Drive on FM 1336. TxDOT said that new signs have been installed and the new speed limit is enforceable.

    TEXARKANA, Texas (KETK) – The Texarkana Police Department arrested two women on Thursday following accusations that they beat their roommate’s children. According to a release, Texarkana PD was contacted by the mother of three children who reported that she had left her children in the care of her roommates while she went to work. The mother reported that when she returned from work, her children told her that her roommates had beaten them with a belt and a stick, police said.

    BROWNSBORO, Texas (KETK) – Brownsboro ISD has a Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) on the ballot for the current election cycle, which could increase school funding if passed. According to an informational website from the district, the VATRE is distinctly not a bond and will adjust the school’s tax rate to make way for day-to-day operational costs without increasing taxpayer costs.

According to the city, the project will focus on improving drainage on Keaton Avenue which they say “has been a focus for several years due to erosion and flooding residents have experienced.” The contract with Reynolds and Kay was approved on Wednesday.
