AUBURN — The DeKalb County Council Wednesday took final action in approving a tax abatement request from a Butler farm that wants to add a complete robotic milking system. By a vote of 4-1, the council approved a confirmatory resolution to create an economic revitalization area and real and personal property tax abatements for KD Carnahan Farms. Council member Amy Prosser voted against the resolution and tax abatement request. Council members Dave Yarde and Bob Krafft were absent.

AUBURN — A Fremont man was sentenced to 5 1/2 years behind bars for fleeing from police in a vehicle and being a habitual offender by Judge Patrick Jessup during a hearing Monday in DeKalb Superior Court II. Tyler Hughes Ashbrook of Lane 101, Long Beach Lake, was sentenced to two years of incarceration, with one year suspended to probation and one year to serve, for resisting law enforcement using a vehicle, a Level 6 felony.

AUBURN — The DeKalb CHANGE Academy will move from its current home at 500 North St. to space in the same location as the DeKalb Central School District’s Choice Academy in the Auburn Kroger Plaza, the DeKalb County Commissioners heard Monday. The CHANGE Academy is a program of DeKalb County Community Corrections and enables students who have been expelled from regular school settings to continue their education. The CHANGE Academy will lose its space at 500 North St., Auburn, in July.
