WATERLOO — Work on the DeKalb High School co-curricular stadium project and band practice area is expected to begin soon after the DeKalb Central school board Wednesday approved bids for the projects. Bid packages were awarded to low bidders and amounts are a guaranteed maximum price, explained the district’s chief financial and operations officer Mark Rohm. The project has a total cost of $6,011,839. Of that, $1,965,000 already has been paid for the bleacher/press box package, Rohm explained.

HAMILTON — Hamilton Community Schools are celebrating after voters in a special election Tuesday voted with a resounding “yes” on a referendum to continue to impose a property tax of up to 44 cents per $100 of assessed property value to operate the schools. A total of 368 votes were cast in favor of the referendum with 92 opposed.

The referendum question appeared on the ballot in a special election Tuesday. The question was put before voters in three precincts in Steuben County and one in DeKalb. A total of 368 votes were cast in favor of the referendum with 92 opposed.
