AUBURN — The DeKalb County Council Wednesday gave its support to DeKalb County Commissioner Kellen Dooley to proceed with a plan to install security cameras at Sunny Meadows county home. Dooley presented a proposal to install 13 cameras — inside and outside of the facility — for a total of $21,980, plus $4,265 for storage of recordings, from Lakeland Electronics. He noted the cameras are the same as ones that are installed in other county buildings.

AUBURN — The DeKalb County Council Wednesday approved the initial step that must be taken before it can consider a tax abatement request from a Butler farm that wants to add a complete robotic milking system. KD Carnahan Farms, of the 3300 block of C.R. 57, is proposing equipment acquisition valued at $1,099,552 and real estate improvements of $200,000.

AUBURN — The developer of a proposed commercial solar project in DeKalb County that was rejected in 2023 will work with the community in hopes of a favorable outcome, the developer’s community relations manager said Monday. Sculpin Solar is a 180 MW solar project being developed by Geenex and will be owned and operated by RWE. Sculpin will host a public information meeting Thursday at 6 p.m. at McIntyre Place, 116 S. Jackson St., Auburn.

AUBURN — A Butler man was sentenced to six years in prison by Judge Patrick Jessup Monday in two separate cases involving methamphetamine and child solicitation. Zachary Brandenburg, 36, of the 5500 block of C.R. 12, Butler, pleaded guilty to am amended charge of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 4 felony, and child solicitation, a Level 5 felony, as part of a plea agreement filed in DeKalb Superior Court II.
