The Woodlands Hotel, near Haverhill, closed in 2018 and has now stood empty for seven years, but in February received the green light to become a care home. Photos taken by drone photographer Tristam Mayes show the roof crumbling and the windows firmly boarded up. The hotel sits just inside the boundary of the Sturmer Parish Council, in Essex, and will become a 64-bedroom specialist centre for dementia patients after Braintree District Council unanimously approved the proposals.

Sabrina and Twilight, who live at the Suffolk Animal Rescue Centre in Debenham, have been at the centre for quite some time after being rescued in Ipswich. Since the rescue, the other cats have found homes but Sabrina and Twilight are still waiting to be picked. Both are chipped and neutered and are FIV/Felv negative.

Homes in the postcode areas of IP28 7 and IP28 8, near Mildenhall, lost power just after 2pm on Friday. UK Power Networks managed to divert power back to 975 properties, but 205 homes are still affected. READ MORE: Woman taken to West Suffolk Hospital after A1120 crash The power company has sent engineers to the area to investigate the issue, but it is believed that there was an overhead cable fault that cut the power.

Three suspects are on the run after a robbery in Ipswich on Thursday (Image: Newsquest) A search has been launched for three suspects who are on the run after staff were threatened in an Ipswich town centre shop robbery. Suffolk police responded to reports of the robbery at the O2 store, in Tavern Street, at 1pm on Thursday. Three male suspects threatened the shop staff and attempted to steal items from the store before fleeing the scene, Suffolk police said.

The yellow warning has been issued between 9am and 10am on Saturday, as heavy rain and frequent lightning is expected. The weather forecast comes as a 'Spanish scorcher' is set to hit the county next week, with temperatures as high as 25C to be expected after the thunderstorms. The Met Office has warned that the thunderstorms are expected for most of Saturday before fading during the late afternoon. Some places could see 30-40mm of rain over the course of tomorrow from continuous showers.
