    Idaho's tax season has begun, and if you're new to the state or just need a refresher on how to file your taxes, we have you covered. You can file your taxes starting on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025. The Idaho State Tax Commission says the state expects to process over 1.03 million income tax returns in 2025.     Four chefs from Idaho have been named semifinalists for the 2025 James Beard Award in the Best Chef (Mountain) division. Other chefs in the division come from Montana, Utah, Colorado and Wyoming. The Idaho semifinalists are Benjamin Barlow of the Stanley Supper Club in Stanley, Salvador Alamilla of Amano in Caldwell, Rémi Courcenet and Nathan Whitley of Terroir in Boise and Cal Elliott of The Avery in Boise. Amano said on Instagram they are grateful to be nominated among the other restaurants.

    The State of Idaho is sending five task forces to assist with the wildfires burning near Los Angeles. Crews are leaving Thursday morning, including 104 firefighters and 25 fire engines. The task forces are being sent from fire agencies across Idaho, including areas like Emmett, Kootenai County and the Idaho National Laboratory, according to a news release from the Idaho Office of Emergency Management (IOEM).

    Stella's Ice Cream locations in Boise, Caldwell, Eagle and Nampa are facing civil money penalties assessed by the U.S. Department of Labor after finding the safety of children was put at risk, by having them perform dangerous tasks and work later than legally allowed. Investigators say "dozens of employed children" operated industrial mixers, drove delivery vans and worked during times forbidden by law, according to a news release.
