Bryan Kohberger, the man suspected of killing four University of Idaho students in 2022, appeared in court Thursday. Fourth district judge Steven Hippler issued a written order following the public portion of the hearing, demanding both parties retain documents and communication records, following what he wrote was the broadcast of sensitive case information on the television show "Dateline" last week. Hippler in open court asked prosecutors to recommend names to lead an investigation.

Former State Rep. Jeanne Givens, the first Native American woman elected to the Idaho Statehouse, has died. A member of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe born in Plummer, Idaho, she represented District 4 at the Statehouse . She served two terms from 1985 to 1989, and served on the Indian Affairs, Business, Education, State Affairs and Health and Welfare committeesIn 1988, she became the first native woman to ever run for a seat in the U.S. congress, but was defeated by Republican Larry Craig.

Ada County officials will cut the ceremonial ribbon Tuesday, May 13 on a new natural gas treatment plant at the Ada County Landfill, but a small amount of the captured and cleaned Landfill Natural Gas (LNG) from the facility is already entering the commercial pipeline. Texas-Based Bio Gas is the company behind the project, we first reported on it in January. A company spokesman says the amount of natural gas being produced from landfill emissions will grow over the next several weeks.

The 13th annual Idaho Gives campaign is underway, now a four-day fundraising event for hundreds of nonprofits across the state. More than 13,600 Idahoans donated a combined $4.3 million dollars last year, and the Idaho Community Foundation wants to grow that to 15,000 people and $4.65 million dollars this year. We speak with Kevin Bailey, ICF's Vice President for Impact and Idaho Nonprofit Center about this year's campaign and how nonprofits affect every Idaho resident.

The New York Times reported this week that the Trump Administration fired the entire staff of the low income Heating Energy Assistance Program, a more than four-decade old program within the Department of Health and Human Services that helps more than six million Americans afford their utility bills. In Idaho, 38,448 households used the program last fiscal year, according to the state Department of Health and Welfare, with $17.7 million provided to participants for heating and cooling bills.
