Sometimes it’s nice to just take off somewhere quiet with a pile of books (or a laptop heaving with movies you’ve been meaning to watch) and kick back in the wild. That said, we do like our creature comforts and a decent thread count at sleepy time so glamping appeals more than old-school camping. If you concur, there’s a new adventure on the horizon, and it involves ditching the four walls and embracing the great outdoors (without sacrificing a decent night’s sleep, obvs).

That’s the vibe you get when you nip off down to West Cork in the summer. You could fill your day with activities, of course (there’s loads to explore) or you could slide on the flip-flops, whack on the sunglasses and take a perch on a high stool for a frosty pint outside an old bar and remember what it feels like to be unrushed again. If it’s the latter you’re after, the town of Schull is the place to do it.

Scally’s much-loved SuperValu in Clonakilty has been undergoing a major facelift and they’ve just unveiled one of their new additions: a swanky new sushi counter. Scally’s is the first SuperValu location in Ireland to have its own Sushi Circle, stocked to the hilt with every variety you can imagine, every piece hand-rolled fresh daily. There’s a variety of sushi rolls and snacks to choose from, as well as Japanese desserts to enjoy afterwards.
