Members of Craobh na Dúglaise who attended the County Fleadh Cheoil at Ballincollig had a most enjoyable time. Those who took part in the competitions were well pleased with their performances. The branch won a total of 32 medals which included 17 firsts. Pride of place was the Drombeg Céilí Band, entered under Douglas Comhaltas, who won the Senior Céilí Band competition.

Cork got their title defence off to a smooth start after their comprehensive win over Limerick in the opening round of the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior Championship at Páirc Ui Rinn on Saturday. Following on from the successful shorts v skorts motion last Thursday it was back to action on the pitch rather than off it. Due to the postponement of the Munster final Cork didn’t have a game for five weeks, but you wouldn’t think it as they were in total control, from the first minute to the last.

The Camogie Association held a special congress at Croke Park tonight, where delegates voted in 98% favour of giving the players the choice to wear one or the other. The issue came to light a few weeks ago, when Dublin and Kilkenny senior sides took to the pitch wearing shorts and were told they had to change into skorts.

Cork and Milford camogie star Ashling Thompson is known not just in Cork but all around the country. An unbelievable person who helped so many over the years and never looked for anything in return. A huge loss to her family first and foremost but also the Douglas community and further afield. Thanks for all you did Phil and may you rest in peace.

Tributes paid to popular Cork community champion Phil Goodman https://t.co/wLAS4HRZx3
