It's going to be a disappointing June Bank Holiday, weather wise, unless you're a fan of heavy showers, low temps and lots and lots of strong breezes. However, there is one potential bright spot for the South West over the weekend to come, according to the latest forecast for Munster from Met Eireann this morning.

They were removed sometime early on Sunday morning, with no word from the council beforehand and just the truncated 'stumps' left on the Grand Parade and Patrick Street. The Robo Trees appear to have gone to the great Cyber Forest in the Sky - or possibly what we used to call a 'Corpo Depot' around the docks somewhere and there won't be many mourning their passing. We have just had a brief, official word from Cork City Council this morning.

It's been one of the longest runs of fine, hot, dry early summer weather that Munster has seen in many years, a possible record breaker for May. And the good news - or possibly bad, if you're a farmer or gardener craving rain - is that we have until Thursday or Friday at least before we see any significant change. Even then, with a more unsettled period brought in by Atlantic westerly winds and low-pressure systems, we may not see significant rain over the last weekend in May.
