Limerick's Young Scientist winner to fly the flag in Poland

BT YOUNG Scientist winner Seán O’Sullivan will represent Limerick and Ireland at the EU Contest for Young Scientists in Katowice, Poland, this week. The Coláiste Chiaráin Croom student’s project ‘VerifyMe’, which won this year’s national competition, will be on display again as part of the competition, which runs from September 9 to 15. Taoiseach Simon Harris met with Seán at Government Buildings in Dublin before he headed off on his travels to Poland, wishing him luck at the European competition.

ONE LIMERICK-based community company has taken the decision to log out of its X (formerly Twitter) account for the final time due to “an alarming increase in hate speech, abusive commentary, and the spread of misinformation”. PAUL Partnership made what is deemed the “difficult” decision this past week, saying that recent developments on X “made it clear that the platform no longer aligns with our core values”.

A LIMERICK law firm has announced that it is to merge with a Dublin-based commercial law practice. Holmes O’Malley Sexton, based on Henry Street in Limerick City, announced that it will merge with Dublin commercial law firm OCWM Law. The new deal will mean that clients of both firms will be able to call upon a wider range of legal services and expertise, with more resources and capacity.

Section of M20/N21 to temporarily close

LIMERICK City and County Council has given notice that it intends to close the M20/N21 westbound from Monday September 9 through to November 30. The proposed closure will be between Junction 5 (Cork) and the T-Junction with the L-1427 to facilitate pavement remedial works. The M20/N21 eastbound between the T-Junction with the L-1427 and Junction 5 (Cork) will also be closed during the same period.
