(ABC 6 News) – Kasson-Mantorville Elementary School has been named a 2024-25 Project Lead The Way, or PLTW Distinguished School. The honor recognizes select schools from across the U.S. that provide transformative learning experiences for students with PLTW Launch. This is an elementary STEM curriculum. To be eligible for the recognition, K-M Elementary had to have more than 75% of the student body participating in the program.

(ABC 6 News) – A Canadian Pacific train collision with a tractor truck resulted in non-life threatening injures for the driver. According to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, crews were notified Tuesday, May 5, at around 10:50 a.m. Witnesses near 870th Avenue, just south of County Road 6, told deputies they could hear the Canadian Pacific train. They report it was sounding its horn as it neared the gravel road.

It’s the first bilateral trade deal announced since Trump began slapping tariffs on U.S. trading partners. The deal affirms that “reciprocity and fairness is a vital principle of international trade,” Trump said from the Oval Office. It increases access for U.S. beef, ethanol, and other agricultural products, Trump added. It also fast tracks American goods through the U.K.’s customs process, Trump said.

(ABC 6 News) – A Fillmore County favorite eatery, has been forced to close after an overnight fire. At around 2:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, the Cafe posted on their Facebook page, saying, “It is with great sadness that I share that The Gateway Cafe caught fire tonight and will not be operational for the foreseeable future. We are in shock.” The cafe is located at 118 Gold St N in Wykoff and had been purchased by new owners within the last few years.
