Which trains: Metrolink’s Orange County and Inland Empire-Orange County lines have been terminating at the Laguna Niguel/Mission Viejo stop since construction began in April. The resumption of service means that the usual routes through San Clemente will be restored. During the construction, buses have been shuttling Amtrak Pacific Surfliner riders between Irvine and Oceanside to allow crews to work on the rail.

After technical difficulties caused months of delays, people participating in a Los Angeles County transportation subsidy experiment will receive their first payments by July, according to an email Metro sent to program participants. “We are writing to let you know that we have decided to change the Mobility Wallet card provider to better serve you,” said the May 22 email to the 2,000 participants awaiting prepaid debit cards with the subsidy, which will total $1,800.

More details on the reopening: Starting at 8 a.m. Friday, the public will have access to two lanes in each direction. A Los Angeles Metro contractor hired a man with an open sexual assault case against him to be a transit ambassador, the green-polo wearing personnel that the countywide transportation agency brands as a friendly presence on its trains and buses. The ambassador, Fernando Vinicio Chavez, met his next alleged victim while working on Metro’s system, according to police.
