MUSKEGON, Mich. — One of Muskegon's long-standing structures, known as the 'Skeleton Building,' reached its final resting place Wednesday afternoon. What's left of the structure at 880 1st Street was just the bones. It's been around for more than 100 years, according to the City of Muskegon, and once served as a bank.

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — A man in his 40s was rescued in Lake Michigan at Grand Haven City Beach Tuesday afternoon. First responders were first flagged about a potential water rescue situation around 4:15 p.m. Ottawa County Dispatch told 13 ON YOUR SIDE the dive team was deployed into the water to rescue the man, and they got him out of the water. First responders from the U.S. Coast Guard, Michigan DNR Grand Haven and Ottawa County responded.

SOUTH HAVEN, Mich. — The South Haven Police Department is investigating the death of a woman after she was found floating in Lake Michigan Monday evening. South Haven Emergency Services (SHAES) said their crews first responded to a report of a person in distress on Lake Michigan about five miles south of the lighthouse. A boater alerted first responders to the woman floating unconscious, and SHAES and other responders got her out of the water.

MUSKEGON, Mich. — A teen laborer died while on the job in Muskegon this weekend, the Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration said. The 14th Michigan worker death of 2025 happened on Sunday, June 22, in Muskegon, state regulators said. According to MIOSHA's initial investigation, a 17-year-old worker was tasked with cutting up a felled tree at a home when the owner found the victim next to a chainsaw with a laceration on their neck.

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. — About an hour before sunset on Sunday, the Berrien County Sheriff's Office closed down Silver Beach County Park due to fighting and disorderly conduct. The Sheriff's Office said around 8 p.m., a large group of young adults and teens showed up at the beach and caused what they described as "a disturbance," which included two people fighting each other. Law enforcement detained a young adult and a teen.
