(WSET) — The Roanoke Police Department said a man died after an incident in Roanoke on Friday morning. On Friday, at approximately 4:09 a.m., officers responded to the 1300 block of Jamison Avenue SE for the reports of a shooting, police said. Upon arrival, officers located a man with gunshot wound injuries. He was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

(WSET) — The Galax Fire Department said there was a structure fire on Wednesday. This structure fire was on Friendly Lane. According to officials, arriving units found a working structure fire in a single-wide mobile home. A mom and a small child were alerted by smoke alarms. The mom woke the napping child up, and the family escaped unharmed, officials said. The fire appears to have started in the clothes dryer, officials said.
