    PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Schools participating in the Pike County Bowl presented by WYMT we’re presented with $1,000 checks on Saturday. David Tackett, Chairman of the Advisory Board at McDowell ARH and the Regional Vice President of the Eastern Region at Community Trust Bank presented the checks to all of the schools participating on Saturday.     MIDDLESBORO, Ky. (WYMT) - Police in Bell County are searching for a man who reportedly shot at deputies who were trying to serve him a warrant. Bell County deputies Austin Poindexter and Samson Churchwell attempted to serve felony warrants on 47-year-old Paul Holland, in the Cary community on Friday night. Police said after the deputies made contact, Holland pulled out a gun and started shooting at them. Poindexter and Churchwell returned fire and took cover.

    HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Primary Care Centers of Easter Kentucky (PCCEK) held their annual Fun Fest on Friday in Hazard. The Fun Fest is a back-to-school celebration for kids. It included free sports physicals, food, inflatables and games. This year’s theme was Mario Kart and included a special visit from Mario, Luigi and their famous go-karts. “They came in, they rode in with their trophy, so that was an added bonus.

    HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Dr. William Scott Rule was selected to be the next President and CEO of Big Sandy Community and Technical College. Rule most recently served as the President of West Georgia Technical College. Kentucky Community and Technical College System acting President Larry Ferguson announced their decision to hire Rule on Friday. “I am elated to announce the appointment of Dr. Rule, as the new president of Big Sandy Community & Technical College,’ said Ferguson.

    HAZARD, Ky. (WYMT) - Hundreds of firefighters from across the state will descend on the Mountains this weekend. The Mountain Firefighters Association is holding its annual Hazard Fire School this Saturday at Hazard Community and Technical College. Hazard Fire Department Lieutenant and President of the Mountain Firefighters Association Brandon Smith said the fire school offers free, continuing education for firefighters of all skill levels.
