Before she disappeared, Michelle was a familiar face throughout the community. She loved walking and riding her bike through town. Long-time neighbor and friend Joe Alexander, Jr. said she was “friendly, loving, and caring.”“She never met a stranger. She loved everybody,” Alexander said. “I know we were neighbors, but I knew Michelle. We were friends.”This week marks ten years since anyone in Stuttgart has seen or heard from Michelle.

As the school year winds down, students, teachers, and staff at Stuttgart Public Schools are preparing for a busy and exciting final stretch. According to Nikki Hawkins, Director of Communications and Student Services, the coming weeks will include state testing, spring sports events, and more. Interim reports will be sent home with students today. “Make sure that you check the backpacks and ask the questions so that you can see those interims. Interims are very important,” Hawkins said.

The Stuttgart Chamber of Commerce invites residents to participate in Rid Litter Day on Tuesday, April 22. The Chamber is partnering with Keep America Beautiful and Keep Arkansas Beautiful for the Great American Cleanup event. Director of Communications and Events for the Stuttgart Chamber Logan Molock said volunteers can work at their convenience. “We encourage you to participate at any time that works for you, even if you just have 30 minutes,” Molock said.

The American Legion Daniel Harder Post 48 holds monthly meetings to connect local veterans and their families. Legion and Auxiliary President Lindsey Phillips said meetings are now on the fourth Thursday of each month at 5 p.m. The American Legion building is at 1207 S. Park Avenue, across from Park Avenue Elementary School.  “If you are a veteran, you can join the American Legion. For your family members, they can join the American Legion Auxiliary. It is a great gathering.
