    The Grand Prairie Soccer Association is gearing up for another exciting season of youth soccer. President Heather Henry said now is the time for families to get registered. In-person registration events are on Saturday, June 7, and on Saturday, June 28, from 9 a.m. to noon at Stuttgart First Baptist Church.  “You want to park on Prairie Street and follow the signs to find the place in the building,” Henry said. Online registration is already open and will remain available until Tuesday, July 1.

    The City of Hazen will host its 22nd Annual Mammoth Pond Fishing Derby this Saturday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mammoth Pond Park. Tracie Vail with the City of Hazen said the derby is a free opportunity for children 15 years old and younger. “A fishing license is not required,” Vail said. “We will also provide refreshments throughout the day.”The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission will stock the pond for the event, and Hazen city officials plan the fishing derby.

    The Monroe County Library will launch its summer reading program this Friday, June 6, at the old Clarendon Welcome Center at 204 Madison St. Program coordinator Tricia Rogers said events are happening on Fridays from 1:30 to 3 p.m.“This year’s theme is Color Our World. It will focus on the arts and creativity. We will have a lot of art projects, colors, paints, and just all kinds of things like that,” Rogers said. The program is for children up to the age of 12.

    A wave of community spirit is breathing new life into the city of England. Residents Katie Webb and Courtney Cooke are organizing a community yard sale on Saturday, June 7, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.“Myself, Courtney, and a handful of other people have come to realize that England needs to be revamped. We need to be put back on the map,” Webb said. Residents have started planning community events to bring visitors to England and unite community members.

    First Methodist Church in Stuttgart’s youth group is holding a rummage sale on Friday and Saturday, June 6 and June 7, from 7 to 11:30 a.m. on both days. The annual event will be held in the church’s Christian Life Center building at 307 E. Fourth St. Youth director Jennifer “Pooh” White said various items are available at the sale. “It is a youth rummage sale that we do every year, typically during the first weekend of June, where you can come find home decor, clothes, and antiques.
