Recently outside hitter Ally Batenhorst and setter Mac Podraza earned starting roles. And it’s their love for the sport and their teammates that motivate them to keep competing. Ally Batenhorst is used to high standards after playing at Nebraska and USC, and it’s the same with the Supernovas.

OMAHA (KMTV) — The first women’s sports bar in Nebraska is officially open. Founder and owner Molly Hyuck first had a vision for a bar like this two years ago after visiting others out west. The bar opened at 61st and Maple in Benson on the second day of the men’s NCAA basketball tournament and the first day of the women’s NCAA basketball tournament. OMAHA (KMTV) — Omaha Benson is the only baseball team in Omaha Public Schools that does not have a home field on campus. And the Benson High School Foundation is looking to change that. The goal: have a place for kids of all ages to play ball. BROADCAST TRANSCRIPT:“Benson High School is more than just a high school. It is the community.”And that’s why class of 1958 grads Paul and Djel Ann Brown want to give back to their alma mater. “We are backers of Benson High School,” Djel Ann said.

OMAHA (KMTV) — The Nebraska boys' state wrestling finals were historic. Omaha North's Tyson Terry became the first to win four titles at heavyweight; and he finished his wrestling career undefeated on the mat. Bennington's Kyler Lauridsen also joined the four-time champ club with a win at 157, following in the footsteps of his older brother Kael. In the team race, Creighton Prep won Class A and Skutt Catholic won Class B. Check out all the action in the video above!

OMAHA (KMTV) — You may know Terrell McKinney as the Nebraska state senator representing District 11. But he’s also an assistant wrestling coach at Omaha North High School (where he won two state championships). He loves competition, but he also loves the North Omaha community and giving back, which keeps him motivated in both of his roles.
