Steinbach RCMP along with the help of Manitoba RCMP Traffic Services saw an increase in calls during the Summer in the City weekend. In total, 35 people were charged for offences ranging from Speeding to Dangerous driving, Impaired Operation of a Conveyance, Break and Enter, and Possession of Weapon Dangerous to the Public. There were 31 provincial offence notices issued.

At Scholars Education Centre, learning isn’t one-size-fits-all. For the past two years, the centre has provided tailored academic support to more than 250 students in the community, offering help that ranges from early literacy to high school sciences and math. "We offer academic support in a couple of different streams," says Sajda Siemens, who runs Scholars of Steinbach. "We work with elementary and middle-years students who might be struggling with reading, writing, math and French.

The Tache Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 1 and Provincial Road 206 around 1 p.m. Sunday. Fire Chief Allan Rau says the pickup truck was crossing Highway 1 when it was unsafe to do so, and it struck the back end of an eastbound semi-trailer. “It could have been nasty, but luckily it just hit the engine compartment of the pickup truck. The occupants of the pickup truck self-extricated as well as the semi operator, nothing happened to him.
