Steinbach city Council unanimously denied a subdivision request for 236 Woodhaven Avenue Tuesday evening. The application was up for first reading. Generally, even if there are concerns, city council will give first reading so that a public hearing is triggered and council can have an opportunity to hear from the neighbouring residents and the developer before they make a decision.

**Updated at 9:30 p.m.** As of 9:30 p.m., the Manitoba Hydro outage has been largely resolved. Only five customers are still without power. **Oiriginal story posted Thursday, 6:30** Manitoba Hydro is dealing with an unplanned outage that is affecting the north end of Steinbach, stretching up to PR 311. The power outage was reported shortly after 5:30 Thursday evening and it is affecting 621 Manitoba Hydro customers. The cause of the outage is not known at this time.

Efforts are being made to preserve a historical building in your community. The St. Joachim Parish in La Broquerie received historical status in 2000. While there are many older structures across Manitoba, very few have historical status, especially in the southeast. Lucien Grenier, a member of the church’s financial committee, shares that such status is remarkable not only to the people in the municipality or town of La Broquerie, but to anyone with a family history of immigration to Canada.

More residents are being allowed back to their properties in the Lac du Bonnet area. Late Sunday afternoon, residents living south of PR 313 in Lac du Bonnet were allowed to return home. At 4 p.m. Monday, based on recommendations from Manitoba Wildfire Service, the RM of Lac du Bonnet began allowing residents in the Cape Coppermine area from Widgeon Row to George Carteret Way to re-enter the area.
