As has now become custom, Billy Penn received an email Thursday afternoon from the Okaloosa County Tourist Development Department, which oversees Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Fla., saying local, state and federal requirements had been met and the trip has been rescheduled.

It was the best of times. The Eagles jumped on the Kansas City Chiefs early and cruised to a 40-22 victory for the team's second-ever Super Bowl title. Afterward, tens of thousands of people celebrated across the region. They made a big mess, it got cleaned up, and we'll do it - but a lot more - on Friday. The SS United States' on-again, off-again departure is on again. And soon. In fact, it starts Thursday morning, unless delayed by an overnight storm expected to deliver a wintry mix to the city. The Okaloosa County Tourist Development Department, which oversees Destin-Fort Walton Beach, Fla., has secured the necessary approvals to move the ship from her longtime home in South Philadelphia. The initial attempt to move the ship in mid-November was postponed just hours before it was to begin.

SEPTA officials shared Thursday that a card production issue was causing some student, senior, paratransit and reduced fare passes to be declined at subways, buses and Regional Rail locations. The good news? The transit agency reports that the issue isn't affecting riders who use standard SEPTA Key cards or contactless payments methods like credit cards, debit cards and Apple and Google Pay platforms.

Charles L. Blockson dedicated his life to documenting the history of the Black Diaspora. A native of Norristown, Blockson is the visionary behind one of the most prestigious collections of African American artifacts in the country, The Charles L. Blockson Afro-American Collection at Temple University, home to more than 700,000 items related to the global Black experience dating from 1581 to the present. On June 14, Blockson passed away at his home at 89 years old.

Known for his polarizing opinions, flashy fur coats, and an ego as big as the Eagles' Super Bowl dreams, Eskin, 73, shared the news on social media. He did not offer a reason for his abrupt departure, which was confirmed by parent company Audacy.
