    VARDEN — Western Wayne has struggled a bit the past few years on the local boys volleyball scene. This spring, though, the Wildcats reclaimed their place among elite teams at both the league and district levels. Led by a trio of record-setting seniors, coach Darren Thorpe’s squad finished tied for second in the Lackawanna League standings, then advanced all the way to the Class AA semifinals. “Theo Black, Vinny Silon and John Pyatt were definitely our leaders this season,” the veteran skipper said.

    Multiple people were taken away from a Honesdale restaurant by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement on May 29, according to Honesdale Mayor Derek Williams. He was alerted to the agency's presence at the courthouse, where he saw agents parked out front. "About a half dozen of them went inside the courthouse, then came back out. They got in vehicles, moved around to the back of the courthouse in their vehicles. We followed them around there and witnessed them put on their gear," Williams said.

Under the direction of longtime coach Scott Van Gorder, Paupack dominated play in the venerable Northeast PA Schoolboy Hockey League for nearly a decade. With Van Gorder at the helm — and three of his talented sons leading the way — the Bucks carved out a spot for themselves among the region's truly elite ice hockey teams.
