EDWARDSVILLE — A new magisterial district judge office building is rising from the ashes in Edwardsville. Construction has started on a new office behind the Edwardsville municipal building at the site of the former district court building that was destroyed by fire in May 2024. Edwardsville Borough owns the property and is constructing the building that will be rented to Luzerne County to be used for magisterial district court for Edwardsville and Kingston, officials said.

Three UPS Store franchises in Northeast Pennsylvania — locations in Dallas, Dickson City and Honesdale — are slated to soon close, the owner confirmed Tuesday. Longtime franchise owner Dave McQueen confirmed the popular package shipping stores are closing, but declined to say why. He deferred comment to UPS’ public relations department. McQueen, who previously owned and sold a series of Pet Supplies Plus franchises in the region, did say he had been trying to find a buyer for the UPS stores.
