DESLOGE – Beth Harrington, 65, of Bismarck, passed away June 2, 2024, at her home surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born November 25, 1958, in Bonne Terre, to the late Don “Baldy” and Dorothy “Dot” (Nicholson) Cassidy. Beth was the former manager of Casey’s General Store in Elvins. She loved traveling, shopping, gambling and Christmas was her favorite time of the year. However, Beth’s favorite past times were spending time with family, friends and most of all, her grandchildren.

FREEBURG, Ill. – Violet “Vi” Schrader, nee Schopfer, 92, born June 25, 1931, in New Athens, Illinois, died Friday, May 31, 2024, at Cedar Trails Senior Living, Freeburg, Illinois. Vi graduated from New Athens High School and attended business school in St. Louis where she continued to work until she married Albert F. Schrader on September 27, 1952. Vi and Al had almost 47 years together until his sudden death on June 14, 1999.

MASCOUTAH, Ill. – Gregory A. Hoskins, 67, of Mascoutah, Illinois, born Oct. 25, 1956, in Streator, Illinois, died Thursday, May 30, 2024, at his home. Greg was the owner and operator of Better Newspapers, Inc. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mascoutah and was very active with the Mascoutah Improvement Association. Greg was an avid coin collector and loved visual arts.

Fern Sebastian, 93, of Park Hills, passed away May 30, 2024, at Country Meadows in Park Hills. She was born December 28, 1930, in Desloge, to the late Steve Allen and Hazel Belle (Weiler) Rosener. Fern was a proud 1948 graduate of Elvins High School and dedicated member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Park Hills. Fern’s love for reading, dancing, and maintaining a warm and welcoming home for her family was unparalleled.
