Monroe County in Upstate New York was among the hottest counties in the nation in March for real estate, according to data from the National Association of Realtors. The county, home to Rochester, ranked No. 5 in the nation for market hotness out of over 1,600 U.S. counties ranked in March. No other county in New York ranked higher than that, but two were among the top 30 in the nation: Broome County at No. 23 and Livingston County at No. 27.

But some jobs in the region that require a high school education only pay far more. In fact, the top 25 jobs in the Syracuse metro area that require a high school diploma and no college all pay a median of more than $75,000 a year, according to data from the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics.
