A woman has been killed after being hit by a car on a busy road. The incident happened on Thursday afternoon (November 7) along Chingford Mount Road. Officers from the Metropolitan Police, alongside the London Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance, responded to the emergency call. They arrived at the stretch of road between Normanshire Drive and Norton Close at about 2.15pm after being alerted to the crash.

Drivers using private car parks across the UK are set to be impacted by a major new change to how fines are given out. It is part of a new single Code of Practice for the car park operators, which has been introduced by the British Parking Association (BPA) and the International Parking Community (IPC). The change means that private car parks will have to give drivers a 10-minute grace period to return to their vehicle after their parking ticket has expired, before they can issue fines.

A creepy dummy snatcher who was freed from jail early is back behind bars for trying to buy used baby pacifiers online and contacting children. Josh Guilder, 24, stole soothers from five tots around Harlow in Essex between February 10 and August 7 last year. Homeless Guilder would then go and sit in his tent and use the dummies himself. He was convicted of five counts of theft, three of common assault and a public order offence and was jailed for 14 months in February.

A South London father is convinced that a playground swing is "haunted by ghosts" after witnessing it sway on its own. Billy Price, 32, came across the strange scene while taking his son for swimming lessons on Wednesday (October 30). He was baffled to see one swing moving by itself for a full five minutes even though there was nobody around. Billy captured the swing's movement on video at the park in Church Road, Teddington, while the other swings remained eerily still.
