GOLDEN, Colo. - Jefferson County Chief Deputy District Attorney Katharine Decker set a bagged rock about the size of a cantaloupe in front of the jury with a heavy thump Monday. This rock, she told the jurors, is the rock that killed 20-year-old Alexa Bartell. The defendant, Joseph Koenig, threw it through her windshield two years ago and he is guilty of murder, Decker said during opening statements in Koenig's jury trial. "This rock blew through her head like a cannon," she said.

Two suspects have been arrested in connection to a shooting death in Aurora’s Dayton Triangle neighborhood. Donald Howard, 18, and Jordan Zachary Leday, 27, both face a first-degree murder charge as suspects in the Monday shooting of a 20-year-old victim in the 1500 block of South Galena Way, the Aurora Police Department said in a news release. Howard was arrested Wednesday by the Regional Anti-Violence Enforcement Network as part of a Colorado Organized Crime Control Act investigation.

A homicide suspect has been arrested in connection to a death at an RTD rail station. On Wednesday officers responded to a report of a robbery at the RTD Nine Mile Station, 3181 S. Parker Road, according to an Aurora Police Department news release. A light rail conductor reported to RTD dispatch there was an unconscious man lying on the tracks, an open backpack and personal items were also on the tracks, the release said. The man was taken to a hospital where he died Friday morning.
