CALLS have been made for the provision of all-terrain beach wheelchairs at both Garrettstown and Garrylucas beaches, after a local councillor heard that one had been brought from Warren beach to Garrylucas to allow a pupil from a local school access the beach for the first time in his life. Cllr Gillian Coughlan raised the motion at a recent meeting of the Bandon Kinsale Municipal District, seeking the service which is already in place at both Inchydoney and Warren beaches.

A PLANNING application for a controversial mussel farm in Kinsale Harbour by a Waterford-based company is still live over seven and half years later, much to the astonishment of locals. Woodstown Bay Shellfish Ltd applied to the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine for an aquaculture licence to operate the mussel farm in 2018 in an area near the Dock beach and James Fort.

Cork County Council exploring options to tackle faded road markings | The Southern Star

Cork County Council have confirmed that they are considering buying their own line-painting machine for roads, as Cllr Danny Collins (Ind Ire) made the point at a recent meeting that faded lines at junctions and other intersections across the county are a major health and safety issue. ‘We need to have our own truck on the road. It’s a major health and safety issue where you come up to a junction and the lines and boxes are faded and you don’t know where to stop,’ said Cllr Collins.
