GARDAÍ are reminding the public to secure all property including their homes and cars following the theft of two cars in West Cork earlier this week. The first theft occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning when a grey Ford Focus was stolen in Crossbarry. This car was later recovered by gardaí in Clonakilty while a black Ford Focus with the registration 152KY 1602 was then stolen from an estate in the town a few hours later.

THE streets of Dunmanway might resemble a Hollywood movie set this June bank holiday weekend as ‘Feel The Force’ returns to the town. The Star Wars-themed festival, which won the Best Festival awards at The Southern Star West Cork Business & Tourism Awards earlier this year, is expanding this year to embrace Super Heroes and Villains.

The ribbon was cut today on Ard Na Mara, a new housing development prioritising accessibilty and inclusion for older people in Schull. Cllr Danny Collins, deputising for County mayor Cllr Joe Carroll, officially opened Ard na Mara. The development was delivered by Tuath Housing in partnership with Cork County Council, the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, and Schull Community Care Association Ltd.

A controversial mussel farm planned for Kinsale Harbour has been granted an aquaculture licence by the Department of Agriculture, Food & The Marine. Waterford-based company Woodstown Bay Shellfish Ltd had applied to the Department o for the licence in 2018 in an area near the Dock beach and James Fort. However no final decision was made until the Minister for Agriculture, Food & the Marine confirmed this week that the licence would be granted.
