(WAVE) - Many expected to be celebrating Thunder Over Louisville on the Great Lawn this Saturday, but as the Ohio has receded and left behind tons of debris, the lawn was instead filled with volunteers helping clean up after historic flooding. Waterfront Park is caked in sludge from tree branches, trash and even a washed up boat. On Saturday dozens of people showed up to Waterfront Park to get dirty and help get it back to its former glory.

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The Louisville Metro Police Department is investigating after a shooting in the Portland neighborhood left three people dead early Tuesday morning. According to LMPD, it happened just before 5 a.m. on April 8 on the 2200 block of Griffiths Avenue. The victims died before they could be taken to the hospital. In a press conference Tuesday, Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg said they will find the person responsible.

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - In Carroll County, officials there say three people have been rescued from rising waters. Others have been told to evacuate their homes while officials are still waiting for a crest to happen. Carroll County Emergency Manager Mike Ratliff said they’re expecting the Kentucky River to crest at around 54 feet early Tuesday morning. He said to expect water levels to rise a “couple” more feet until then, with his best guess being around two feet.

The ongoing flooding has hit the county hard, especially in areas like Boston. On Sunday, two task force teams from Georgia were there helping other Nelson County agencies with rescues.

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Water levels in Bullitt County continued to rise Saturday as the rain fell and some residents were still doing last-minute preparations. Regina Watkins and her husband were some of them, they’ve called the banks of the Salt River home for decades. “When it gets up to that green there it’ll be right there at the floor,” Watkins said. “They keep saying it’s all according to the rain.
