INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The state budget bill headed to Gov. Mike Braun would give him full control over who will be on the Indiana University Board of Trustees, thanks to a last-minute addition to the measure that legislators passed Thursday night. As it stands, a vote of members of the IU Alumni Association appoints three of the nine seats, and the governor would appoint the other six. The governor would appoint all nine if Braun signs the budget bill.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Gov. Mike Braun is greenlighting an independent audit of the Indiana Economic Development Corp. because of its relationship with Indianapolis-based venture capital firm Elevate Ventures. At a news conference Thursday, Braun said the audit comes on the heals of detailed reporting that raises questions about how Elevate Ventures operates and manages public funds that are funneled to it through the Indiana Economic Development Corp. (IEDC).

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Hoosiers are the victims of internet crimes at the highest rate in the states history, according to a new report from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. According to the report, Indiana ranks 8th in the country for the number of internet crime victims in 2024. Over 23,000 people in Indiana were victims of Internet crimes last year, which is more than double the number of any year since the FBI has been tracking the numbers.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Archbishop Charles Thompson sees significance in the timing of Pope Francis’ death a day after Easter, the holiest day of the year for Catholics. “He dies at the time of resurrection. He suffered with Christ. Now, he rises with Christ. Now, he lives eternally with the risen Lord who gives victory for us over sin and death,” Thompson said. “Yeah, I think it’s apropos.
