It’s spring and the smell of leeks was in the air at the American Legion Post 192 in Coudersport on Saturday as the Ladies Auxiliary held the first Leek Festival. Bloss tables decertification question

Despite there being no agenda item to decertify Visit Potter-Tioga on the Blossburg borough council agenda, members of the public and representatives for VPT attended the monthly meeting of the council to ask that any action be tabled. In March, the Tioga County Commissioners sent letters to county municipalities asking each to adopt a resolution to decertify the tourism agency of record in both Tioga and Potter counties. Tonya McNamara, owner of The Blossburg Company, said she supports VPT.
Area students discover 'cool' in manufacturing

Students from Cowanesque Valley High School and North Penn-Liberty got a glimpse into the manufacturing world during the What’s So Cool About Manufacturing video contest held by the Northern Tier Regional Planning and Development Commission. The contest allowed students to create a video that examines the processes and business of a local manufacturer.
Letting the dogs out on the Island

Some Blossburg council members are hoping that Island Park will go to the dogs, or at least that dogs will go to Island Park. Blossburg borough president Jolene Hall said that the recreational board is discussing building a dog park on Island Park. Hall said a suggested plan includes a 40 by 60 foot enclosure with five foot fencing. Other ideas for the dog park included ramps and tubes for the dogs as well as a hydration station and bathing area.

Despite the thunder and lightning along with the accompanying downpour during the morning, the Davis family of Lawrenceville made it to the shores of Crooked Creek for opening day of trout on Saturday. Gnomes begin series celebrating Bloss history

The Blossburg Company Store hosted the first event in a series “Rivers, Coal and Crafts” to celebrate the history of Blossburg’s mining pasts and the future of Tioga River restoration. On Saturday, knitters gathered at the store to make gnomes to take home. The gnomes were made from skeins of hand-dyed yarn that represents the story of the Tioga river. Tonya McNamara, owner of the store, said she got the idea of creating a shawl that represented the story of the Tioga River.
Motion opens discussion, compromise for Southern Tioga improvements

A motion to proceed only with the infrastructure improvement plan for the five buildings in Southern Tioga, limiting borrowing to $40 million and spending to $50 million, brought discussion that in turn led to a possible consensus about the continued question of consolidation. At the April 7 work session, directors James Kreger and Kyle Heyler requested the motion be added to the April 14 agenda.
