A volunteer basketball coach for a community center in Miami was arrested for allegedly sending inappropriate and sexual text messages to a 10-year-old boy, police said. Charles Williams, 26, was arrested Tuesday on several charges, including lewd and lascivious exhibition and conduct on a child, promoting sexual performance by a child, and tampering, according to a police report.

Police on Thursday identified the man who was shot and killed by an off-duty officer at an RV park in Fort Lauderdale. The shooting happened Wednesday evening at the Yacht Haven Park & Marina Resort at 2323 West State Road 84, according to Fort Lauderdale Police. A property manager alerted the off-duty officer, identified as Lieutenant Jonathan Bohm, of a man inside the property causing a disturbance, police said.

Police released the body camera footage of the moments officers fatally shot an armed man who was having a mental crisis and holding his brother hostage last month in Fort Lauderdale. The incident happened Dec. 11 in the area of Southwest 25th Avenue and 22nd Avenue, where Fort Lauderdale Police received calls from the family members of Jalen Moore, 22, and reported he was armed with a gun and was inside the home with other family members, including an infant.
