    As Trans Pride in Los Angeles celebrates 26 years, the Trump administrations shifting policies have resulted in the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles closing its Center for Trans Youth and Gender-Affirming Care, and the Supreme Court upholding the Tennessee’s ban on gender-affirming care for minors on Wednesday. The Los Angeles LGBT Center is also celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Trans Lounge, a program that offers more than 20 social events, workshops and peer support groups every month.

    LOS ANGELES — Following a fourth night of anti-ICE protests in downtown Los Angeles, local businesses and residents have been cleaning up some of the damage — much of which has been graffiti on walls and windows showing opposition to the ongoing immigration raids in the city. Fugetsu Do confectioners, which sustained only minor damage, is one of Little Tokyo's oldest businesses. Owner Brian Kito explained how the ongoing protests have created much uncertainty for local business owners.

    Originated as the California AIDS Ride in 1994, AIDS Lifecycle is a multi-day ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles that raised funds for HIV/AIDS-related services at the Los Angeles LGBT Center and San Francisco AIDS Foundation. The 2025 fundraising ride will be the last AIDS/LifeCycle, mostly because of rising costs associated with staging the event.

    Gov. Gavin Newsom’s office announced the CalAssist Mortgage Fund, which is a mortgage relief program that will provide $105 million in grants to eligible homeowners. The application process will open on June 12. Those eligible include families whose primary residence was destroyed or is uninhabitable because of a “qualified disaster” from Jan. 1, 2023 through Jan. 8, 2025, offering three months of mortgage payments, up to a maximum of $20,000.

    LOS ANGELES — The Palisades Charter High School campus was shut down due to Palisades fire damage in January, with classes moving online and to the former Sears building in Santa Monica. Pali High graduation is usually held on their athletic field which was damaged and unusable. The LA Philharmonic board of directors offered to "gift" the school the Hollywood Bowl stage for their commencement.
