After 38 years of operation, Goodies Eatery – a breakfast and sandwich shop located in downtown Tallahassee – is closing for good due to "unforeseen circumstances," its owner said. The casual eatery, operated by John Henningsen, announced the "end of an era" on social media platforms Instagram and Facebook on May 12. "I had hoped to retire down the road a bit, on my own terms with a proper goodbye to each of you, but I know God's timing is perfect," Henningsen said in the post.

Last year was one of the hardest for some local restaurateurs and even patrons who learned that another dining establishment had closed. Temporary closures turned permanent when a trio of tornadoes struck Tallahassee on May 10, 2024.
