COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A former Ohio State offensive lineman charged with aggravated vehicular homicide after a crash in Dublin on Saturday morning made his first court appearance on Monday. Kirk Barton, 40, was arraigned Monday morning in Franklin County Municipal Court, receiving a $500,000 cash surety bond. The ex-Buckeye football player cannot operate a vehicle or leave central Ohio. Barton’s passport will be in the defense attorney’s possession. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 1.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — A large plume of smoke covered Interstate 270 in northeast Columbus after a tanker carrying thousands of gallons of oil overturned and caught fire. A police dispatcher said that a semi carrying fuel overturned on the ramp from I-270 South to State Route 161 East just before 1:45 p.m. and caught fire. The driver of the tanker was taken to Riverside Hospital and is in stable condition.

Franklin County Judge Stephen McIntosh issued a “directed verdict” in the case, before it could go to a jury, after a request from Mount Carmel’s lawyers who said Husel hadn’t proven his case.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Two teenagers who were involved in an incident with Columbus police last week near a South Side rec center appeared in juvenile court. Police were called Wednesday afternoon to the area near Lincoln Pool and the Barack Community Center. Officers on bicycles spotted three teens in the parking lot. Watch previous coverage in the player above. A 15-year-old ran away and was ultimately arrested.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — Columbus police announced that an 18-year-old man died after being shot early Saturday morning in a shooting downtown. Jusiah Mason was one of six people shot Saturday at around 3:30 a.m. in the area of South Ludlow Street and West Town Street, near Bicentennial Park.
