The sentence hearing of eight men involved in the largest cocaine seizure in the history of the state is underway. They’ve all pleaded guilty to offences arising from the seizure of 2.2 tonnes of the drug on board the MV Matthew in 2023. Three Ukrainians in their 30s and 60s, two Iranians in their 50s and 30s, a 31-year-old Filipino, a 49-year-old Dutch national, and a 31-year-old man from the UK are appearing before the Special Criminal Court in Dublin today.

News The motorcyclist injured in the crash that killed Garda Kevin Flatley has died. The man in his 30s was rushed to Beaumont Hospital following the collision at a speed checkpoint near Swords in Dublin on Sunday, May 11th. He was pronounced dead yesterday evening. Gardaí say Family Liaison Officers are providing support to both families involved. Two people have been killed and 192 injured in France, after clashes broke out following Paris Saint-Germain's victory in the Champions League final. More than 500 people have been arrested across the country, including 491 in Paris, where 5,400 police were deployed using a water cannon, tear-gas, and pepper spray. The French interior ministry says there were 692 fires, and the injured include 22 security workers and seven firefighters.
