Plans for the final stage to restore a former outdoor swimming pool has received more than £43,000 of funding. The Friends of Tarlair community group has been awarded a Community Capacity Grant from Crown Estate Scotland’s Sustainable Communities Fund. The £43,900 funding will be used to support design drawings for the final stage of restoration of the historic coastal Art Deco lido and outdoor swimming pool on the outskirts of Macduff.

Motorists have been advised of a road closure to allow for drainage work to take place. The B9031 from the A98 at Bloodymire to B9123 at Dubford will be closed to traffic for five days from Monday, April 21. Police are investigating the theft of a blue off-road motorbike. It was taken from Mountblairy near Banff between 10pm on April 1 and 10am on April 2 and is similar to a Kawasaki TI90 motorcycle. A project to resurrect a former outdoor pool has received a funding boost. Portsoy Outdoor Pool was awarded £1000 from Benefact Group’s Movement for Good Awards to support the charity’s work. The pool was built in 1934 by residents in the town and was a favourite summer spot for generations of youngsters and families. It closed in 2001 but the charity group is looking to resurrect it from its run-down state.

A children’s charity is preparing for its biggest fundraising event of 2025. Befriend a Child will hold its Golden Anniversary Ball for the third consecutive year. The event, taking place on Friday, May 30 at The Chester Hotel, will mark 50 years of supporting children and young people across Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen.
