A month-long celebration of all things mac and cheesy came to a head on Saturday in Peterborough with an exciting grand finale. Chefs gathered in downtown Peterborough at the Quaker Foods City Square for an epic showdown, where unique mac and cheese creations were presented to those in attendance at Downtown Peterbrough’s Mac and Cheese Festival. After a month of mouth-watering features at local restaurants, the festival wrapped up with a free, all-ages outdoor event.

Peterborough’s Porter Martone is ranked sixth heading into the NHL Central Scouting’s Final Draft Rankings for the 2025 NHL draft. A list of players to be drafted were released on Tuesday and includes 170 players form the CHL. Of these, 64 players are in the OHL, including Martone who plays for the Brampton Steelheads. The list includes 38 OHL forwards, 19 defencemen and seven goaltenders.

His latest “condiment series” book is titled “Humour on Wry, with Maple Syrup.” It’s come out during the sugaring-off season for syrup producers and in the midst of a tariff war with the U.S. where everything Canadian made — including maple syrup — is liquid gold.
