While temperatures are expected to cool somewhat as we approach the Early May Bank Holiday, there's no denying that spring has arrived, bringing with it some glorious sunshine and warm temperatures.     From today (Friday, April 25), part of the footpath along Guildhall Road in Hull city centre will reopen following 'significant progress' along the edge of Queens Gardens. Hull City Council has announced the footpath will reopen in phases, improving access for pedestrians. Parking bays which were within the works area will now be available for use. The redevelopment of Guildhall Road is designed to enhance the area’s functionality and aesthetics and was widened to increased pedestrian traffic.

    Hull City Council has today (Friday, April 25) released a statement regarding Queen Victoria Square fountains. The fountain was installed in Hull city centre ahead of the UK City of Culture in 2017 and quickly became a popular attraction for families during the summer months. In January, the Leader of Hull City Council, Mike Ross, was challenged during a full council meeting on when the fountains would be operational again after not being operational in 2024.

    Essential carriageway resurfacing works are set to begin next month, Hull City Council have announced. Taking place on the roundabout connecting Brighton Street, Witty Street and Freightliner Road, the scheme will aim to renew the failed area of the carriageway. This will ensure the highway provides a safe and even surface for traffic with adequate grip and skid resistance, the council says. Works will start on Friday, May 2 and last four nights to complete - weather permitting.

    A new family-friendly exhibition is coming to Ferens Art Gallery this summer. Parts of the gallery will be transformed into an immersive space, filled with large technicolour digital art projections. The digital art responds to visitors' movements and encourages attendees to be creative. Visitors will be invited to enter a world filled with digital life-forms, bright colours and ambient sounds when Microworld opens on Saturday, May 24.
