    Essential resurfacing works are set to begin in Hull’s West Carr area, Hull City Council has announced. The scheme will involve resurfacing area of footpaths which have deteriorated, as well as addressing sections that have been vandalised. Once finished, the newly improved footpaths will provide a safe and even surface for local residents, while also enhancing a number of green spaces within the neighbourhood, the council says.

    Supplies are set to be sent to British Steel’s Scunthorpe plant to help keep its blast furnaces burning. The materials, sent from the US, are enough to keep the furnaces running for weeks, the Department for Business and Trade said, adding that they have been paid for out of its existing budget. It follows the Government's emergency intervention on Saturday when both the Commons and Lords deliberated on legislation to prevent the blast furnaces from potentially being shut down.

    £3.5m of road improvements are set to be carried out across the East Riding area this spring and summer in a bid to protect against potholes and other damage. East Riding of Yorkshire Council has revealed the list of locations set to receive these improvements as it announces the investment from its annual surface dressing programme. Work is set to begin on April 23 and is expected to take around 13 weeks to complete, weather depending.

    TransPennine Express (TPE) are launching an Easter egg giveaway to spread some seasonal joy this April. Starting today (Monday, April 14) and running until Thursday, April 17, customers travelling through selected stations will be greeted by members of staff handing out specially designed TPE-branded Easter egg boxes. Each box will contain a handful of small chocolate eggs and a limited number of the boxes will include an extra surprise.

    Work has been completed to improve security measures around 'crime spots' in Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire Council has confirmed. The council has recently replaced brick walls and thin metal sheeting around Dukes Park with a fence, in order to increase visibility. Graffiti on the footpath adjacent to the park has also been removed, both of which will help reduce incidents of crime and antisocial behaviour.
