The Lighting Association based at former RAF Binbrook will welcome back ex-Lightning Pilot Flight Lieutenant, John Carter for a talk on July 5. He will tell of his personal experiences of the Lightning which thundered over the Lincolnshire skies during the Cold War to deter Russian aggression.

Buzz Bingo has been given notice to leave its Scunthorpe site. It comes as landlord Zirconia Trading Ltd is currently appealing councillors' refusal to grant planning permission to convert the venue into a self-storage unit. Buzz Bingo has been given notice to leave by April 9, 2026. A Buzz Bingo spokesperson confirmed its Scunthorpe venue remains open for business and it is looking for a new home in the town. Documents submitted for Zirconia's planning appeal show notice was served on April 4.

With an anticipated crowd of around 300,000 visitors to the Cleethorpes Armed Forces Weekend, highways bosses have given advice to residents and visitors. A number of roads will be closed from Friday June 27. There will be a park and ride service to ease pressure on our roads and motorists' stress levels. Buses will offer a ride every 15 minutes to Cleethorpes Memorial Hall on Grimsby Road.

Train passengers travelling between Grimsby Town and Lincoln and Scunthorpe this week will have to use a rail replacement bus. Services across the network have been affected by engineering works at four key Lincolnshire level crossings, which started on Friday. Buses will run between Cleethorpes, Grimsby Town and Lincoln as well as Cleethorpes and Barton-on-Humber, stopping at the missing stations.

The Government has announced recipients of cash for vital repairs to local schools and hospitals in northern Lincolnshire. Through the Estates Safety Fund, £5.8m is being provided for key repairs at Scunthorpe General Hospital and Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby. Meanwhile, 53 projects across Yorkshire and Humber are sharing between them £21.5m Condition Improvement Fund cash for repairs to educational institutes. This includes five schools in North Lincolnshire.
