A resident who lives in a senior social housing building downtown Saskatoon is concerned about her safety. “My screen has been slashed,” Lynnett Boris, who has lived at King Edward Place for about 15 years, told journalists. “It isn’t safe.”King Edward Place is a 116-unit seniors complex run by the province. Boris, backed by the Saskatchewan NDP, shared images of an exit door held shut by a bungee cord and a washing machine that reportedly had faces inside of it.

St. Paul’s United Church has placed its worship minister on a paid administrative leave as he faces criminal charges. Mark Zielke is facing 14 charges in connection to an armed robbery at a North Battleford motel on April 5. Court documents allege Zielke, and two other men, threatened motel workers with a gun and used a sword to assault an employee, who was later taken to hospital. Police say cash, electronics, bank cards and IDs were stolen from the motel.

A former Saskatoon mayoral candidate and owner of a legal services business is facing charges in connection with an armed robbery at a North Battleford motel. Mark Zielke and two other men are facing 14 charges — including robbery with a firearm, assault with a weapon and forcible confinement. Zielke, 41, was arrested with Tyson Moore, 44, and David Dominguez, 41. On Saturday night, officers responded to a robbery at the Hitching Post Motel.
