As Juneteenth festivities continue in Tulsa’s historic Greenwood District, safety concerns have risen after a violent altercation during Thursday night’s events. A fight broke out that left one person unconscious and sent a wave of panic through the crowd as many fled to safety. Some witnesses reported seeing individuals with firearms. “We were in a dance circle just dancing around and then all of a sudden, everybody started running,” said one anonymous bystander.

Tulsa's historic Greenwood District is alive with music, food, and celebration as the community honors Juneteenth. Helping fund the festivities is the Historic Greenwood license plates, which will soon be available for motorcycles. Each plate costs $40, with more than half of that amount directly supporting the Tulsa Juneteenth Festival. Originally launched six years ago, amended legislation now allows for motorcycle versions of the license plates.

Across Green Country, residents woke up this morning to the aftermath of storms that came through the metro last night, bringing wind gusts of 60 to 72mph. “It’s really quite a job, but I think we can handle it,” said Larry Reed, who was helping his son and daughter-in-law remove a large, uprooted tree in their front yard. “We’ve got two chainsaws, and we’ll get it cleaned up.”Though many homeowners are taking the removal process into their own hands, some may need to seek professional help.

After nearly seven years, Kellye Johnson is finally receiving the closure she longed for following the tragic murder of her son, Alfred “Trey” Seymore III, in 2018. Trey’s mother expressed her relief and gratitude upon hearing the news. “I was able to survive my stroke to see it, to live to see it. I didn’t think I was going to,” she said. In November 2018, 21-year-old Seymore was fatally shot in the parking lot of a former Candlewood Suites hotel in Tulsa.

A Saint Francis patient is speaking out after she says the hospital administered a medication she’s severely allergic to, despite multiple warnings in her medical chart and personal communication with her care team. Sarah Sierra-Ruiz visited Saint Francis in April to have an abscess drained on her thigh. What was supposed to be a routine hospital stay quickly turned into what Sierra-Ruiz calls a nightmare.
