The Last Five Years has been performed countless times across stage and screen, but this Sunday at the Hudson Theatre, Nick Jonas and Adrienne Warren opened the show on Broadway for the first time. 44th Street was abuzz with theatergoers craning their necks to catch a glimpse of the two-person cast—who, between them, wield more than enough star power to carry an 85-minute show sans intermission for a crowd of 970. The musical, written by Jason Robert Brown, debuted in Skokie, Illinois, in 2001.

One short day in New York City, the cast of Wicked joined Vogue for a thrillifying special screening of the film at the Museum of Modern Art. In fair midtown Manhattan, where we lay our scene, the cast of Romeo + Juliet (and 800 of their closest friends) took over The Pool + The Grill for a Shakespearean soiree immediately following the show’s opening night. The Broadway production, which is playing for only twenty weeks at Circle In The Square Theatre, had a dazzling opening night that left a star-studded audience weeping and whooping.
