    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — City, county and state crews across the Mid-South have been working around the clock to keep the roads as clear and as safe as possible for drivers. And while many of the roads were clear by Saturday afternoon, icy conditions could continue throughout the weekend as temperatures drop below freezing again. As the snow started thawing Saturday, people of all ages across the Mid-South spent their day enjoying the remnants of the winter storm.

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — In 2024, crime has been down all year compared to 2023. New third quarter data showed a decline in robberies, murders and the overall crime rates compared to the third quarter of 2023. The Memphis Police Department’s interim Police Chief, CJ Davis said the decrease in crime numbers is not by chance.   "The Memphis Police Department's crime strategy is working,” said Davis. It's a strategy that Davis started working on with her administration over two years ago.

    TENNESSEE, USA — Suicide rates are increasing among female veterans, according to a new report by nonprofit Disabled American Veterans (DAV). The report, “Women Veterans: The Journey to Mental Wellness,” highlights gaps in mental health care services for female veterans and offers potential solutions. Women only represent about 10% of all veterans, but the report said they are twice as likely to attempt suicide than their male counterparts.

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — People across the Mid-South are preparing to celebrate Independence Day. But those Fourth of July celebrations could quickly become dangerous if you don't take the right precautions. Dr. Audrey Mills, Emergency Department Manager at Saint Francis Hospital, warns of those potential dangers. Dr. Mills said around this time of the year, they see an uptick in injuries. She said most of the injuries are among small children and young adults. "We've had some eye injuries come in.

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Overdoses are on a decline in Tennessee, but the state still has some of the most overdose deaths in the country. Many of those fatal overdoses were a result of substance abuse. During the COVID-19 pandemic, overdose deaths spiked. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, social isolation and stress were the in substance use. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Tennessee Overdose Deaths are are on a decline since peaking during the pandemic.
