PADUCAH — Amid record-high temperatures for the region, WPSD-TV hosted a fan dropoff day Wednesday at the station in downtown Paducah as part of the Beat the Heat fan collection event. The drive aims to collect as many fans as possible for local people who may not have access to air conditioning to stay cool this summer. WPSD collected more than 50 fans on Wednesday, bringing the total for this year to 317.
